Too many pokers in the fire??

Too many pokers in the fire…this has been the topic of conversation around here this week.

Some call it shiny object syndrome or Squirrel (from the movie Up).

I talked with a friend about this last year, when I was feeling pulled in all different directions. Feeling like I had my hand in many different things, but wasn’t doing any of them well, just getting frustrated because the results I wanted to see weren’t there.

My friend Michael pointed out that was exactly what I was doing….just spinning wheels. So he gave me some suggestions:

  1. Pick 1 or 2 things you feel the most drawn to
  2. Focus your time and energy there
  3. Get clear on the why behind. Like I always say, knowing why this is important to you helps move towards it
  4. Get some clarity around what you want the end result to look and feel like, so that you can call it finished and then move on to the next thing
  5. Set a time frame and then create a plan to work backwards from-be sure to includes funds, resources, help, etc.

When you accomplish one thing in it’s entirety it’s rewarding and fuel to move on to the next.
