The Choices We Make

“One of the most important decisions we can make is whether we live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe.”—Albert Einstein

Early yesterday morning when I couldn’t sleep, as the worry cycle began, a message came to me…..today is from your yesterday and tomorrow is created from your today.

I’ve been thinking about that message since. I know there are some big, tragic unexpected things that happen to us that are out of our control, but right now let’s talk about what we bring and create in our lives.

I go through phases of holding onto the past and let it impact my today and sometimes my future. I get resentful and blame life or other things for what is happening. I also dream of and hope for the future, sometimes becoming stuck in the dreaming state without taking any movement towards those dreams and hopes. When we can let go of the past and future, come into the present, we’re able to create what we want for today & tomorrow.

For example, if today you’re feeling stressed out and overwhelmed because of a jam packed schedule, look at what you did yesterday (or the past few days) to allow this situation to happen.

  • Did you say yes when you really wanted to say no?
  • Did you add things that could be spread out further in the future?

Once you see the cause of your stress and overwhelm you can then make changes moving forward…

  • Begin paying attention to what’s important
  • Say no when it feels too much or when you’re really not into what’s being asked of you
  • Use the 3 B’s I share on here every couple of months

The same goes with weight, with finances and pretty much anything else in your life.

If you are stressed about your finances, look at the way you spend, the decisions you’ve made and take note of what needs to change. If you want to build a savings account but have been going out to eat a lot and spending money mindlessly, ask yourself why a savings account is important to you and then, with each spending decision ask yourself, “is this purchase in line with what I want to create financially?”

As I working on the tip this morning an email came through from The Daily Love–in it Mastin asks, “If the things that are the hardest things in your life, in those moments where you feel like you are in a divine storm and life was against you, what if you chose for life to be for you? What if you thought that this is actually rigged in my favor?

How would you see this situation differently?”
