Choose Happy

Choosing happiness over money. Who does that? John Moffitt who plays for the Bronco’s does, that’s who.

I’m not a football fan but could not resist checking out the article circulating on FaceBook as I kept seeing comments about how John decided to quit the NFL, not because he’s not getting enough play time, but because he’s lost the love of the game and was tired of risking his health. He’s no longer happy.

He left money on the table, like over a million dollar money on the table.  John said, “I just really thought about it and decided I’m not happy. I’m not happy at all. And I think it’s really madness to risk your body, risk your well-being and risk your happiness for money.”

My thought as I read this article, Hell Yeah John!

I talk a lot about living a happy, joyful life with my clients and I am working on doing the same. So many people stay in a career or job that’s un-fulfilling for the money and/or the fear of what others will say if they chose to leave. Why? We spend more than half of our lives at our jobs, at least that’s my math, and if we’re unhappy there how we can be completely fulfilled in the rest of our lives? For me, I want to be happy in all aspects of my life and when one thing is out of balance all other areas are as well.

To quote John again, “I just want to be happy. And I find that people that have the least in life are sometimes the happiest. And I don’t have the least in life. I have enough in life. And I won’t sacrifice my health for that.”

What are you doing for the money?

What are you doing for approval of other people?

Do you wish you could be doing something else?

What’s stopping you?
