Let’s Talk Visions

Talking about and creating vision boards is one of my favorite things to do. In case you’re not familiar, vision boards are compilations of our dreams and what is important to us in our lives using actual imagines rather than just our imagination. The images can represent specific things as well as feelings and emotions we have when we see those images.

You’re never too old, to young or too anything else to create a board of what you dream of and want in your life.

My newest vision board is a combination of all kinds of pictures. I have Adam Levine and a guitar because first of all Adam is hot (he’s my secret boyfriend) and second because music inspires me and I want to learn to play the guitar. I have an image of a woman in business attire but who also looks fit…that brings in my wanting to work outside of my home office some and reminding me of why I’m taking care of myself and working out.  As I look at my entire board there’s so many feelings and emotions that come up. Peace, calm, love, trust and excitement for what is happening that I can and cannot see. It’s a place for me ground and trust the process instead of trying to force.

To create a vision board here’s a few tips:

1.     Get your supplies together: poster board, magazines, scissors, glue or tape and markers.
2.     Get comfortable. Find a space that allows you to spread out, relax and have fun—dream and tap into how you feel with certain images.
3.     Don’t question images you’re drawn to, just go with it. Use can use words and phrases as well.
4.     Once start putting your board together remember there is no right or wrong way to create it. It’s yours, represents you and what is important to you in whatever way you choose to put it together.
5.     Do with your board what you want once it’s complete. Put it up in a place you can see it often and be inspired, share it with others, put it in a closet and look at it from time to time or never again.

The practice of taking the time to center, to feel all that comes up when you get playful and dream is what I believe is the magic of a vision board.
